School Food Matters!
We are so excited to have our very talented Head of Geography Ms Issacs and her committed team who successfully managed to be one of only 50 schools nationally to be chosen to develop our very own Honeybee-friendly garden.
Not only will it promote more awareness of the food cycle AND provide vegetables and herbs for our canteen, it will also promote natural pollinators bees into the space.
Soaked in sunshine, on May 20th Ms Issacs, a representative from School Food Matters set about finding the perfect spots for plants and vegetables to take root. The Honeybee Programme, run in partnership with Whole Kids, is designed to raise awareness of the vital importance of honeybees in food production. Children get up close and personal with honeybees in a safe environment, transforming any fears into awe and wonder. The experience not only boosts their appreciation of biodiversity but also sparks a desire to become environmental stewards.
We'll keep you updated on progress through our newsletter but there are a couple of images shown below.
