Hornsey School for Girls HSA
We formally relaunched on the 19th April 2023 and harnessed the power of a small steering committee to vote in the following:
We know that we have parents keen to support the school and an active HSA that will support this further.
Our next meeting is scheduled to take place on 3 May @ 7:30pm virtually - we want to welcome as many parents and members of staff as possible to really get the community behind us

The consitution is shared below.
Chair - Ms A Marsden
To lead the committee, ensuring the HSA is run in line with its constitution and according to the wishes of all members.
Vice Chair - Dr V Enne
Secretary - Ms R Cervi
The secretary ensures that the HSA’s activities run smoothly. They use their excellent communication and organisational skills to arrange meetings, take minutes and keep records.
Treasurer - Mr Alex MacAskill (SBM)
In the past the HSA have supported the school by purchasing
- Games equipment for break times.
- Covers for outdoor fountains to help keep them clean.
- Refreshments for various school activities, including the Summer Art Show.
- Subsidising a trip to a Christmas Play for the English Department.
- New PA system for use at the Autumn School Fair.
- Contribution to Year 11 prom (the PSA matches the money raised by the students during the year).
- Donation towards the Modern Language Department prize for Steam competition.
However, the events organised by the HSA are about much more than simply fundraising. The HSA exists to develop closer links between home and school and it is an excellent way to bring parents/ carers and the community together socially in support of the school, working towards a common goal.
All parents or carers and members of the school community are encouraged to get involved, even if they only have a small amount of time available. All families are automatically members of the Hornsey School for Girls Home School Association when their child joins our school.
There are several ways that you can help the school through the HSA:
Attend HSA meetings: More people attending the HSA meetings mean more ideas to help our school. We meet once a half-term and we are always happy to see new attendees. The meetings will be advertised by text, Twitter, and our other comms channels
Volunteer to help in one of our events: School events such as the Autumn fair are very successful community events, but they take time and effort to organise. We always need volunteers, whether it is selling drinks at one of the school events, staffing one of the stalls or selling raffle tickets or helping set up at the Autumn fair. We contact parents or carers and staff via the school’s email and text system. Please get in touch with us if you can give a bit of time for a particular event.
Lend us some of your skills: We are all busy with work and family so not everybody is able to come to the PTA meetings or give time for one of the school events, but you might be able to help us in your own time, from your own home. Can you bake something to sell in one of our events? Do you have Desktop publishing skills and can design the brochure for the School Fair? Or do you have connections with businesses that might like to donate something for the Autumn fair raffle or as a prize for one of the Quiz and Curry nights? Do you know of any inspirational speakers that will be happy to come to the school to talk to the students? Whatever it is, please do get in touch with us.
