Curriculum Overview
Key Stage 3
At Key Stage 3 (KS3), the first three secondary school years, the subjects offered are:
- English
- Mathematics
- Science
- Humanities: Geography, History
- MFL (French/Spanish/ Intro to Latin(yr7)/ Intro to German (yr7))
- Religious Education
- Creative Enterprise :Computer Science, Art, Design Technology, STEM
- Performing Arts: PE, Drama, Dance, Music
- Citizenship, Personal, Social & Health Education (CPSHE)
All students attend tutor time in mixed ability tutor groups at the start of the day.
Students are organised into both set teaching groups and mixed ability tutor groups determined by the Head of subjects.

All parents and carers have the right to withdraw their child from RS in all or part. Information for this can be accessed in your childs planner.
Key Stage 4
In Years 10 and 11, Key Stage 4 (KS4), students choose their options using the '3 Bucket' system to support progress 8. We do not cap students in pathways to allow them to choose their own pathway in line with their ambitions.
They all study GCSE examination courses including English Language and Literature, Maths, at least 2 Science subjects or separate triple Sciences, Religious Education Preference subjects, dependent on their bucket choice may include Computer Science, Technology subjects, Languages (French or Spanish chosen lower down the school), History, Geography, Media Studies, Performing Arts and Social Sciences. We encourage students to consider the EBACC if this is appropriate for their ability range and futures as we recognise it will may an impact on future opportunities for education, training or work.
