Thursday afternoon our fabulous English Department took some very eager students to central London to experience live Shakespearean theatre at one of the most prestigious and historic theatres in the world. The girls who are currently learning all about William Shakespeare’s legendary play; A Midsummers Night's Dream, were rewarded with a live performance from London’s most accomplished stage actors. On the way to the theatre, several students confidently recalled the key characters and summarised the plot of the historic play, it was truly impressive to hear their depth of knowledge on the subject. 

For many students, this was their very first experience seeing a play at this scale. The theatre itself was incredible with lit candelabras and an intimate setting where you felt like you could reach out and touch the actors. It was also quite a unique experience as the Globe is one of very few theatres that closely mirrors how plays were performed over 400 years ago.

Overall, it was a great success and the students thoroughly enjoyed the experience. We would like to thank Ms Osman and Ms Ashraf along with the supporting teachers and staff who made this trip possible.
