Celebrating World Book Day with Vibrant Costumes!
We marked World Book Day today, 5th March with an exciting celebration that showcased the creativity and literary enthusiasm of its students and staff. The event, held on the school grounds, brought to life a range of beloved book characters, engaging the school community in a joyful tribute to reading and storytelling.
Led by Ms Ashraf and her dedicated team, the World Book Day festivities featured an impressive array of costumes worn by students who embodied characters from a diverse selection of classic and contemporary literature. Among those on display were figures from The Hunger Games, The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, Little Red Riding Hood, Snow White, and The Great Gatsby, highlighting the broad spectrum of genres and stories that inspire the school’s learners. There were also competitions like best dressed Literary Door (MS Swzed we are looking at you!) as well a a huge team event taking place at lunchtime supported by Red Riding Hood (Ms O Sullivan) and her team of student librarians.
The event not only celebrated reading but also fostered a vibrant atmosphere of creativity and literacy, with students demonstrating their passion for books through imaginative dress and engaging activities. This initiative reflects the school’s ongoing commitment to promoting literacy as a cornerstone of student achievement and personal development.
Ms Rooke, Wonder Woman and Deputy Headteacher, said, “What a wonderful display of creativity from our students and staff.” Her praise underlined the collective effort and enthusiasm that made the day a memorable success.
Hornsey School for Girls undertakes activities like this to support academic excellence and personal growth, offering a supportive environment where students are encouraged to explore their interests and talents. The school’s celebration of World Book Day is just one example of its dedication to enriching the educational experience beyond the classroom.
Looking ahead, Hornsey School for Girls plans to continue fostering a love of reading and creativity, with further events and initiatives designed to engage students and enhance their learning journey in the lead up to today!
