GCSE Results 2024

Class of 2024 - You did it!

Hornsey School for Girls is exceptionally proud of the results and individual achievements on show today.  Our cohort has had an extremely challenging year with the identification of RAAC closing large areas of the school, including all of the practical science labs for a year whilst remedial works to mitigate against it have been in place. However, this should not detract from the hard work, resourcefulness and efforts made by our school staff and students who have displayed amazing resilience throughout. Headteacher Kuljit Rahelu stated ‘I would echo the Education Secretary here – this cohort have battled national issues like Covid and lockdowns; for us,  uniquely for Haringey, a secondary school battling RAAC across its site impacting the availability of practical science and PE and wider Arts provision. Despite all of this, we retain our high achievement and above average outcomes in  key subject areas like Art, Citizenship, Computer Science, English, MFL and Geography to name a few.’

Headteacher Kuljit Rahelu said ‘Congratulations to our amazing students, staff and parents. This is the culmination of a school career here – every student will no doubt triumph on the next stage of their education or training or work place. You deserve this success and we’re all really proud of you’.

Of particular note for grades 9-7

  • English - 36% of students achieved 9-7, double the national average for this band.
  • MFL - 71% of students achieved an exceptional 9-7 grade, dwarfing national averages across all areas.

This year the school has continued to develop deep partnerships that promote social and political curiosity about the world students live in, and crucially, how they can engage and change lives through developing key skills around problem solving, communication and creativity. Our aim across the school is to empower our students to be resilient and hardworking – something these results attest to.

Stand out individual performances include the following students:

  • Daisy Penfold  nine grade 9’s and 1 grade 8
  • Arissa Ahmed seven grade 9’s and three grade 8’s
  • Orlagh Morrow seven grade 9’s and three grade 8’s
  • Alexa-Blu seven grade 9's

Please take a look at our gallery images - we start these with the memorial for Amy,  a student who would have received her results today had she still been with us.

We wish everyone the best as they move to new places of training work or further study!
