Skills Builder Gold Award
Congratulations! Hornsey School for Girls has successfully achieved the Skills Builder Gold Award!
We were delighted to return following the summer break to find the school been awarded the Skills Builder Gold Award, recognising our commitment to embedding the Skills Builder Universal Framework throughout school life. The Gold Award celebrates education settings that have successfully integrated the eight essential skills: Listening, Speaking, Problem Solving, Creativity, Staying Positive, Aiming High, Leadership and Teamwork throughout Teaching, Learning, Careers Education and the wider Curriculum.
Achieving Gold reflects our whole school commitment to ensuring every learner develops the essential skills they need to succeed in education, employment, independent living and life beyond the classroom. Over the last 4 years the school has gone from standard Skills Builder to Gold as Skills Builder has become fully embedded across the school, helping learners build confidence, resilience, communication and independence. Students are now better able to recognise their own strengths, reflect on their development and understand how the essential skills relate to future careers and every day.
The award reflects our focus on preparing young people not only for academic success, but also for successful transitions into further education, employment, training and independent adulthood. It also recognises the dedication of our staff, who have embraced the Skills Builder Framework and embedded the language of essential skills throughout lessons, enrichment activities, careers education and pastoral support.
Activities that have supported the Skills Builder programme include our Ambitions programme with LAET for older students, Talk Tuesday with our Home School Association, and embedding the language and skills across lessons.
Thank you to all staff and students for continuing to show off their talents and skills - this reward reflects the community working together.
