Shakespeare Trip for Our Eager English Students
Earlier last week both Year 7 and Year 8 students recently enjoyed an exciting English department trip to the Unicorn Theatre to watch a live performance of A Midsummer Night's Dream.
The performance was both engaging and educational, bringing Shakespeare’s famous comedy to life in a creative and accessible way. Students were able to build on their classroom learning as they explored the themes, humour and chaos of the play through an energetic and memorable production.
Throughout the performance, students recognised many of the famous lines they have been studying, including “The course of true love never did run smooth” and “…had a most rare vision.” Seeing these moments performed live helped deepen their understanding of Shakespeare’s work and allowed them to experience the play in a completely different way.
The trip was a fantastic opportunity for students to immerse themselves in theatre and literature outside the classroom, while also enjoying a brilliant day out with their peers. Great fun was had by all, and students represented the school exceptionally throughout the visit. A big shout out the teachers and support staff that made this trip possible.
