    Jekyll and Hyde Soho Jaunt!

The English Dept took over 70 year 11 students on a tour of Dr Jekyll’s Victorian Soho this afternoon. The weather was lovely and our students behaved impeccably throughout, a credit to their families and the school (even with all the walking!)

Students were immediately introduced to the Victorian context of the novel, based in Soho. Year 11 grappled with key themes, the affluence of Soho contrasting with the dark underbelly of Victorian poverty shown in the novel. They also learned about the vibrancy of London at this time - a time of great social change and mobility for some and chocked full of writers and artists.

Thanks to our brilliant staff team for supporting and organising the trip - a really lovely way to engage and reflect on the novel which will surely help with the mock exams scheduled to take place on return from half-term!

Thanks to Ms Osman, Ms Ashraf, Ms Herron, who were ably supported by Mr Potaka, Mr Sammon and Ms Dodd, without which we couldn't have these amazing experiences for our students.
