Phillippa Gregory - Best selling Author visit
We were delighted to host internationally acclaimed superstar author Phillippa Gregory at the school.
She has written novels set in several different historical periods, though primarily the Tudor period and the 16th century. Reading a number of novels set in the 17th century led her to write the best-selling Lacey trilogy starting with novel Wideacre - also available in our LRC for year 10 students onwards. This was followed by The Wise Woman. A Respectable Trade, a novel of the slave trade in England, set in 18th-century England. Students may have also heard of her novels 'The Other Boleyn Girl' and 'The White Queen' There are honestly too many to mention but she has sold over ten million books and being able to see her deliver her talk, we can see why!
She was brilliantly engaging. We opened this event to other schools in the borough. With thanks to our Head of History Ms Gladstone, Ms O'Sullivan in the LRC and local powerhouse Pickled Pepper books, students were delighted to hear directly from Ms Gregory talking about her interests, work and how ideas formulate.
She took in her stride questions and clarifications sought from students and afterwards spoke to and signed a number of books for students (and staff!) Images below in the gallery
