    Parental Update 5

As announced last week, we have been preparing to invite all students back onto the school site, following social distancing rules, for a meeting to support wellbeing and engagement and help us develop the appropriate support materials for return in September. These will commence on the 6th July and will reach all of our students across all year groups.

Tomorrow on the Show my homework platform  https://www.satchelone.com/login a letter outlining a date and time for coming onto the school site will be shared with you for your daughter. We are encouraging parents and carers to attend if you wish to. A paper copy of the letter will also be sent but we know that the post has recently suffered due to staffing shortages so we wanted to give you as much notice as possible. Please do log onto the platform and make a note of the date and time of your allocated session. We have planned strict timings in place as this will help reduce the risk of large groups collecting together. Please do attend at the allocated time as we will not be able to host latecomers. We are still operating a fixed one way system around our school site, and social distancing measures and enhanced hygiene practices are in place. We ask all adults to role model these new procedures for our students.

We are currently awaiting official guidance from the government around what school will look like in September and will share this with you once it is released.

We have had a number of parental enquires about what September will look like. The honest response is, at present our staff team are planning for a number of different scenarios which include full opening, and a combination of blended learning remotely. We don't know if the government guidance will allow for this, but given current circumstances, we need to be prepared for all eventualities. We don't know what it will look like.

You may be aware that as a school we were in the middle of an infrastructure update project around our IT systems when the lockdown was announced. Following the lockdown, and where possible, we have had engineers on site to continue this work and enable our IT provision to match new demands. We will be launching fully the GSuite platform in September and moving to Google Classrooms which will support different models of remote learning if it is still required. More information will be forthcoming, and will require all students to activate their LGFL email accounts.

Finally, we have had a number of queries regarding term dates for the next academic year - we update our website over the summer, but prior to this, you can access these directly from the Haringey website https://www.haringey.gov.uk/sites/haringeygovuk/files/haringey_school_term_and_holiday_dates_for_2020-21_academic_year.pdf

Please note the school has not yet confirmed the training days, but usually the first 2 days of the September term are used as Inset days and for introducing new year 7 students to the school. Given the particular circumstances of this year, it is likely that this will continue to be the case.

Wishing all in our school community safety and health at this time.
