Key Stage 3
At Key Stage 3 (KS3), the first three secondary school years, the subjects offered are:
- Humanities: Geography, History and Religious Education
- MFL (French/Spanish)
- Religious Education
- Design and Technology
- Computer Science
- Performing and Creative Arts: PE, Drama, Dance, Music & Art
- Citizenship, Personal, Social & Health Education (CPSHE)
All students attend Core Learning Time in mixed ability tutor groups at the start of the day.
Students are organised into both set teaching groups and mixed ability tutor groups.
English sets by reading and literacy levels and Maths by numeracy skills. Both English and Maths have nurture groups in Year 7. Science is taught in mixed ability groups until Year 9.
Key Stage 4
In Years 10 and 11, Key Stage 4 (KS4), students choose their options using the '3 Bucket' system to support progress 8. We do not cap students in pathways to allow them to fully realise their potential.
They all study GCSE examination courses including English Language and Literature, Maths, at least 2 Science subjects or separate triple Sciences, Religious Education Preference subjects, dependent on their bucket choice may include Computer Science, Technology subjects, Languages (French or Spanish), History, Geography, Media Studies, Performing Arts and Social Sciences. We encourage students to consider the EBACC if this is appropriate for their ability range as we recognise it will have an impact on future opportunities for education, training or work.
