Activities & Interests
Alongside our academic focus we also offer a range of enrichment opportunities to ensure that our students develop as fully rounded individuals. This holistic development provides students with a range of skills and qualities to pursue their future goals. Students also contribute to the life of the main school and local communities. Some of the enrichment opportunities that we provide include:
- Work experience
- Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme
- Fundraising and charity events
- Enrichment activities such as first aid, self-defence & the driving theory test
- Mentoring to support progress
Our Sixth Form College has strong links with local primary schools and organisations within the community. Each year many of our students participate in specific work experience and voluntary work within these settings that not only contribute and give back to our local communities, but also support applications to university and beyond.
National Citizen Service
National Citizen Service (NCS) is a Government backed programme that helps young people build skills for work and transition into adulthood. It invites all Year 11 and Year 12 students to be the best they can be, whatever their background and ambition.
At the heart of NCS is the unfailing belief that given the tools, respect and opportunity, young people can change the world around them. It is this belief that drives all those who bring NCS to thousands of young people across the country, which helps turn their raw energy and talent into more positive and successful futures.
In 2015 a combined total of 55 students from Hornsey School for Girls and Hornsey Sixth Form signed up to NCS and we hope that even more students will take up the NCS challenge in 2016!
