1887-2017 130 Years of Success

The term has started well for the school, with our ambitions for your children undimmed by the summer. You may be aware of our results, far above the average Haringey secondary schools at 67% good passes including English and Maths, as well as individual depts continuing to support students to achieve progress from the start of their Hornsey journey's, not just the end!

This weekend also saw our fantastically committed and ever growing PSA host the launch of our 130 years of educating Girls formally with our Autumn Fair. We have plans for an alumni meeting, tours, and further events to take place throughout the year. Please do get in touch with us if you know of former students who would be interested in joining any of these through our

The autumn fair was opened with remarks from myself, the Mayor of Haringey Stephen Mann, Catherine West, and fantastic celebrity Larry Lamb. He was a perfect host and introduction to the new Hornsey School Song. The brain child of Ms Ongley, with a helping hand from the talented Mr Gareth Malone, the event marks a serious milestone in the Hornsey school journey. What else does the future hold? As education changes and challenges, who knows - but what you have in our school is a genuine commitment to the word 'community' and a desire to continue to be challenge our students to be the best version they can be of themselves for a dynamic future.

This can be seen through the wide range of stalls, students took the theme of enterprise seriously, and nominated various charities to benefit from their hard work. We had stalls supporting mental health charities in the UK and  fundraising for Rohinga refugees. As an International school, promoting a global outlook, its fantastic to see that social and political awareness is high at the school.

We were also delighted by the generosity of local businesses with our raffle and prizes. If you were one of these, or a member of the PSA that supported the school in sourcing these, thank you so much. Your contributions make a real difference to us and our students.

Campsbourne school choir again performed - its so awesome to see the Haringey talent fostered by our exceptional primary schools. Campsbourne students also were our main balloon release to celebrate 130 years - its no mean feat to have such strong roots in our local community.

Under the excellent leadership of the wonderful Mr Davies, the Autumn Fair gives us a chance to celebrate our talents as a collective - our steel pans, dancers, singers, parents, staff and partnerships are only as strong as each making a commitment for these events.

In 1887, the school opened, full of hope and desire to promote and educate the girls of the parish. Some things never go out of fashion. The society might have changed, but the desire for us to be the best for the community, remains the same.
